INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROCESS

Receive your Acceptance & I-20
Once accepted, we’ll issue your Form I-20 so you can begin visa process.
Step 3
Complete TSA Requirements
Complete your FTSP application, fingerprints, and receive approval before flight training.
Step 4
Apply for your M-1 Visa
Schedule your embassy interview, pay the fee and obtain your student visa.
Step 5
Travel to the U.S
Arrive in Maryland, move into your accommodation, and complete your school orientation.
Step 6
Complete your FAA Medical and Enrollment Requirements
Obtain your FAA Medical Certificate and Student Pilot Certificate before beginning training.
Step 7
Start Flying!
Meet your instructor, complete your first lesson, and begin your journey toward a professional pilot career.
ELIGIBILITY
APPLY TO BRAVO
To receive flight training at Bravo Flight Training, international students must meet the following requirements. These are in addition to any requirements set by the FAA and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
TOEFL/IELTS
Must demonstrate English proficiency. Required scores must be submitted before enrollment.
MEDICAL SELF CERT
TOEFL/IELTS
Applicants must confirm they have no known medical conditions that could impede flight training. An FAA medical certificate will be required before solo flight.
PROOF OF FUNDS
+$100,000
Applicants must demonstrate the financial ability to cover the cost of their training program. Payment may be made upfront or incrementally as training progresses, but proof of funding must be provided before enrollment is finalized.
MINIMUM AGE
17
Must be at least 17 years old, or turn 17 before their training start date.
Note: Canadian citizens are exempt from the TSA security threat assessment but must still comply with all FAA and Bravo eligibility requirements.

STUDENT VISA
We’re here to guide you through the whole process
Once you have been accepted to Bravo Flight Training, we will issue you a Form I-20, a document certifying your enrollment in our program. You will need this form to apply for your student visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country.
International flight training students typically qualify for an M-1 visa (vocational student). We'll help clarify which visa type applies to your situation when we issue your I-20.
You can submit your visa application through the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application (DS-160).
Visa Interview
After submitting your visa application, you will be scheduled for an interview at your nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Before attending your interview, you must pay the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) fee.
Once you have been accepted to Bravo Flight Training, we will issue you a Form I-20, a document certifying your enrollment in our program. You will need this form to apply for your student visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country.

TSA Flight Training Security Program (FTSP)
All non-U.S. citizens are required to complete the TSA Flight Training Security Program (FTSP) process before beginning flight training. This is a federal requirement and applies regardless of visa status. The FTSP was formerly known as the Alien Flight Student Program (AFSP).

2. REGISTER AS A CANDIDATE
And follow the steps provided by the TSA.

Complete all required steps in the FTSP process.
4. FINGER PRINTS
Choose a center from the FTSP Website and get your finger prints taken
5. RECEIVE YOUR ELIGIBILITY NOTICE
After the process is completed and you have been approved, you will receive an eligibility notice
6. PROOF OF COMPLETION
Provide Bravo with proof of FTSP completion before your first flight.
Important: Flight training cannot begin until we have received and confirmed your proof of FTSP completion. We recommend starting this process as early as possible.

All international students training under an M-1 Student Visa at Bravo Flight Training must enroll in one of the Programs above. Processing times vary. We recommend contacting the TSA as early as possible and not scheduling your start date until your FTSP completion has been confirmed.

Yes. The FTSP must be completed before any flight training can begin, however you are allowed a discovery flight before the FTSP process is complete. If you would like to schedule a discovery flight, please contact us to discuss the next steps.

Yes. The FAA requires that all pilot certificate holders be able to read, speak, write, and understand English. English proficiency must be demonstrated through the TOEFL or IELTS prior to enrollment.

The FAA does have a process for validating foreign pilot certificates issued by ICAO member countries. Contact us to discuss your situation and we can help determine the best path forward.

Our accelerated programs are built for full-time students. Therefore it’s not possible to retain a job during our intense training.
